As a response to the fact that the Net Neutrality legislation in Congress has stalled, Maine is looking to take the lead in getting the ball rolling on state level legislation.

Senator Ethan Strimling (D-Portland) will be soon introducing a bill that would require network operators in Maine to abide by strong net neutrality principles - the same ones that the internet has grown under since its inception but sunsetted in 2006.

This would keep the internet the way you see it now. It would prevent the big telecom corporations such as Time Warner and Verizon from setting up new tollgates on the internet to charge us new fees.

We don't have a bill number yet, but will soon.

At this time, please contact your legislators and ask them to co-sponsor Sen. Strimling's Net Neutrality bill!
